Acid reflux

Acid reflux conditions are caused by caffeine, pregnancy, and fatty foods or spicy foods. Acid reflux is more frequent in people over the age of forty. Symptoms of acid reflux are similar to heartburn.
You feel a painful burning feeling in the esophagus. It develops in the chest and may swell to the neck or throat after a heavy meal, lifting, bending over, and lying down. Around seventy five percent of acid reflux patients experience this symptom at night.
Our bodies does have its own mechanisms to lower the painful effects brought on by the refluxed acids. Your salivary glands found in the mouth. These glands produce saliva, and the saliva contains bicarbonate. As you swallow, the saliva containing bicarbonates passes through the esophagus and can neutralize acids.
There are many over the counter medications that you can take to lesson the symptoms Acid reflux disease. If the condition keeps getting worse you should see you family doctor.

Studies have shown that most cases of reflux happen during daytime. You are usually on an upright position standing or sitting up. With the aid of gravity, acid reflux is minimized because the stomach contents are held back down. You can also try and eat salads or foods that are less spicy.

Here are some ideas on post surgery care.

The first thing you need to do is keep an eye on the incision area. Usually there will be some slight bleeding in the area. When I had my gall blatter removed the incisions seeped for about a week after the surgery. You need to replace the bandages as needed when they absorb the fluids. Your doctor will have you apply an antibiotic ointment to prevent infection.
You might see some redness around the incision this is normal. If the area becomes swollen and very red or painful contact your doctor. You should keep the area dry for 24 hours to prevent water getting into the stitches which might cause an infection. You can take a sponge bath instead of a shower to help keep the area dry. It is better to wear clothing that is loose fitting and white in color. Clothing dyes can cause infections if the dye gets into the incision. This is especially true if you have had foot surgery. You should wear white socks not colored ones.
Depending on the type of surgery you should restrict activities such as lifting, straining,or sports. If the area is bothering you make sure to apply ice but make sure to keep the area dry.

If you are using paint removers

If you are using paint removers, varnishes, make sure to use them outdoors. If indoors you need to be in a well ventilated area. When you clean your toilet bowl be careful not to spill the cleaner on your skin. Most toilet bowl cleaners contain hydrochloric acids which if it comes in contact with your eyes, nose or throat it can burn you.  Make sure to check the labels of furniture polishes. Some polishes contain petroleum distillates that can get into your lungs. Remember they have a pleasant odor so be careful not to inhale them. The propellants used in some spray cans can be harmful if inhaled. Propane and butane are found in air fresheners, polishes, and insecticides.
If you use a housekeeper or maid make sure to check the chemical products they are using. Many of these products can stain clothes, carpets and furniture if not used correctly. Be careful when using bleach it can leave spots on colored carpeting and hard wood floors. If you are cleaning with any harsh chemicals make sure to remove your jewelry and wear rubber gloves.

vacuum your carpets use a vacuum cleaner that has a built in HEPA filter

When you vacuum your carpets use a vacuum cleaner that has a built in HEPA filter. If you use a canister vacuum attach a filter to the exhaust port. Most stores will carry a HEPA filter you need to use this type of filter or you will just blow the dust mites back into the air. All your bedding sheets, pillow cases, blankets should be washed in hot water since dust mites like to live in the bed rooms.
Make sure to dust your furniture and do not use feather dusters which spread the mites into the air. When you dust make sure to use a furniture polish or damp cloth, wash the cloth after dusting. Dust mites love a humid environment this allows them to reproduce and spread through out the home. You should try and use a dehumidifier and run your air condition this will help keep the dust mite population down. Keep exhaust fans running in the bath room and when cooking food. This will remove the moist air. If you have a wet spill on the carpets make sure to thoroughly clean and dry the area.  Dust mites can be controlled with these suggestions and you can breath better for it.

message the injured muscle

To help the area heal you can try some gently isometric muscle movements. You should net feel any pain in the muscle or joints. If you can tolerate this you should do it gently for five to tem minutes then rest. You can also have a person message the injury. Message serves the purpose of moving the fluid and should be done softly to the injured area. When you message the injured muscle you should not apply to much pressure to the area that is healing. This will promote blood flow to the muscle and the surrounding area. You should make sure to test the range of motion and move the area daily to keep it from getting to stiff from in activity. You should start stabilazation and exercise for the range of motion to the injured area.
You should not exercise the area to vigorously too soon as the muscle is still healing. If you notice pain then the area is not healed. The new muscle tissue is still connecting to the surrounding area and not ready for full work outs. Because of the restricted use of the muscle some weakness will be noticed. You need to stay within the tolerance of the muscle that is damaged. If you notice inflammation then the activity must be stopped. You can return to muscle exercise once the area is free from pain and inflamation. You can try low intensity high repetition exercise. Nothing to heavy and nothing of high intensity work outs.

Making a first aid kit

Here are a lot of things to keep in mind when making a first aid kit.  Who is it for?  Where are you going to keep it?  Why do I want it?  All these questions are easily answered.  The first thing to think about it where you are going to keep the kit.  It will be different if it is for your home, car, or office.  However, something to remember no matter where you keep it that it needs to be kept simple and basic.  All you need is a bunch of items in the kit that you don’t know what they are during a stressful situation.
Some ideas for a first aid kit is sterile gauze pads, band-aids, non-latex gloves different sizes, dependant upon who could use it,  best to keep all sizes or a couple sets of a larger size , antibiotic, hydrocortisone cream, a breathing barrier (for CPR), and a reference card.  The card should have emergency numbers  burn control, poison control, EMS, family members .
You can build a first aid kit specified for your needs.  The suggestions listed above would be best for a smaller kit that you could carry around, however if you want a large kit add in a flashlight which extra batteries , a blanket, scissors, thermometer, hot/cold pack  two different packs, you break and they heat or cool , and elastic wraps.  Basically, you can put whatever you want in a first-aid kit.  Just make sure if you have medications, etc.  in it you restock it and check it regularly.  You need to check the dates to be sure that there are not expired materials in the kit.
